Disappointing Airbnb Stay – Catalina Island (Avalon)
Paid $3,744 for 3 nights expecting a comfortable stay for 6 people. Reality was far from the listing.
(1) Golf cart was non-operational on arrival. It worked briefly the next evening but had no brakes — extremely dangerous, especially at night and in rain. Felt disable without cart at middle of no where!!!
(2) Coffee machine did not work for the first 2 days, despite replacements.
(3) Bathroom sink was clogged.
(4) Water heater was insufficient — barely adequate for 2 people, while the house was rented for 6. And charged for 6 people
(5) Outdated property with a strong musty, old smell immediately upon opening the main door.
(6) Dirty dishes and utensils left for guests. Visible stain
(7) Toilet continuously running with a broken flush handle.
(8) Burned ironing board provided.
(9) Flashlight had no batteries.
Host offered refund, but never received. And continue arguing and debating for issues!! Worst experience of $3,744!!

Beautiful location, amazing view. The house itself is a bit of an odd layout but very nice. But there were a couple of bummers that made it feel like it wasn't quite worth the price tag. Noted below:
1) The golf cart lights did not work for most of the trip. We didn't realize this until after dinner in Avalon when we were headed home, and it was incredibly nerve wracking. Thankfully, we had flashlights and were able to get back to the AirBnb safely. They turned on the next morning, but by the following evening were not working again and did not work for the remainder of the trip. Please look into that, because it is a major safety issue for both your guests and other people out on the road / pedestrians.
2) The toilets make an extremely high pitched noise after flushing and needs to be manually released to get it to stop.
Otherwise a nice stay with a gorgeous view.

Hamilton cove is beautiful. Having a golf cart is critical. The unit is huge, bizarre layout with lots of rooms. Easy check in & out.
There’s no beach that you can lay out on, but there’s a dock you can jump off of to swim & a whole area with beach volleyball & playground.
Took me about 30 mins to locate the golf cart, no clear instructions & the numbers of the parking spots are not in order.
Rimas offered a late checkout for $175, which we did since we took the 2pm ferry back.
Cons: there were a ton of tiny ants all around the apt & spider webs in some corners. And no, we didn’t bring any food into the unit.
The closets were a mess, and beds were very soft. The living room seating was also small and not comfy to hang with the girls on.
Next time I’ll book a place in town & rent a golf cart for a day. We spent $1200 a night for this and it wasn’t worth it.
